Meet Daphne

Daphne Mills

Here I am, in my element, painting in the garden.

I started painting as a child, but with limited materials available during the war, and for some years after,  it gradually faded into the backround of life. But my love of the countryside has never left me.  My first memory, when I was four, was discovering that kingcups had come out by the stream that ran through the meadow near our cottage.

The Purbeck hills, cliffs and beaches were my inspiration, but it was when I moved to Norfolk that the painting bug got me.  The coast and countryside are a constant source of ideas, also the ever changing skies.

The bluebells have been wonderful this year, Jackie and I walked through woods near home recently and  I can feel another bluebell painting coming on!
